Kristy Amaro was appointed to Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer in August 2021. Amaro serves as a strategic leader, thought partner and change agent who connects the dots between diversity and inclusion and overall success as an organization. She listens to voices from around the company, from staff on the front lines to senior leadership and management to create an even more vibrant, inclusive, and supportive environment for everyone at Amerant.
Amaro has held various roles since joining Amerant in 2006. She has led the People and Organizational development team since 2013. As People and Organizational Development manager, Amaro worked with all organizational levels to create, promote, and deliver learning solutions to develop staff potential and support the organization’s business strategy. She served as the Change Management Lead for our Digital Transformation efforts, successfully leading a cross functional team to drive digital adoption for more than 350 users. Amaro also played a major role in our Amerant Internship program, which attracts and retains new, emerging talent.
Prior to joining Amerant, Amaro managed the learning and development function in the luxury hotel industry. Early in her career, she also served as a public-school educator in under-resourced communities.
Amaro holds a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and a Master of Science in Human Resource Development and Administration, both from Barry University.
She often represents Amerant Bank in the community, including as a participant in the BAI Emerging Leaders program, presenting at the Small Business Expo, and serving as a panelist for the Coral Gables and Central Palm Beach Chambers of Commerce.
